The e-registry.ca website is operated by Registry Connect Limited Partnership (RCLP), a partnership of Alberta Registry Agents. RCLP has developed this privacy policy to outline our commitment to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information collected through e-registry.ca.

   e-registry.ca collects personal and non-personal information. Personal information is any information that identifies you as an individual or can be connected to you. Non-personal information is information that does not identify anyone individually. For example, information about the number of users e-registry.ca receives, access times and the number of pages that visitors view, do not identify any individuals and so are non-personal information.

   Individuals can use e-registry.ca to renew their vehicle registration or pay their traffic fines. To complete this transaction we need to collect personal information about you so that we can accurately process your request.

   The personal information required by e-registry.ca is only used to process your vehicle registration renewal or fine payment. RCLP will not disclose this information to any third parties without your express consent, except when required by law, for law enforcement, or if the personal safety of users of e-registry.ca or other members of the public is in jeopardy. The information required to complete your vehicle registration renewal or fine payment will not be used to market other products or services.

   RCLP uses non-personal information to evaluate and improve the website's operations and content and to help us understand how different areas of the website are being used. For example, RCLP may monitor the number of pages that visitors view so that we can adjust the website to serve you better. When RCLP is reviewing the use and functioning of this website, we will ensure that the information we use is non-personal.

   You do not need to provide information to us in order to browse our website. If you wish to complete your vehicle registration renewal or fine payment through e-registry.ca, we need complete information to perform the transaction. If you do not wish to provide us with this information, you must complete your vehicle registration renewal or fine payment at your Registry Agent.

4. Does e-registry.ca use cookies?

   A "cookie" is a name for a technology that allows a website to store tokens of information in your browser in order to track your use of a specific website. e-registry.ca only uses cookies that vanish when you close your browser. These cookies contain non-personal information, and are not used to track your browsing habits..

5. What kinds of security measures does e-registry.ca use?

   The security of your personal information, your vehicle renewal information, and your fine payment information is RCLP's highest priority. RCLP protects your personal information by employing technical security measures on the same standards as those used by banks and other financial institutions.

   We work to protect your personal information from any loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration. Our industry recognized security safeguards protect your personal data and help maintain the accuracy of the personal information we store. Internal access to your personal information is permitted to only selected members of RCLP. These select staff members have been provided with privacy training and are familiar with RCLP and the Government of Alberta's privacy policies and procedures.

   The information submitted will be protected once it reaches our site; however, the Internet is not totally secure and we cannot ensure the information will be protected during transmission, although it is encrypted when being transmitted from your computer to our website.

6. How will you hear about future changes to the privacy policy?

   Changes or updates will be posted to the site. Any change to this privacy policy will not negatively affect the use or disclosure of personal information that was collected prior to the policy having changed. Any change to this policy will comply with legal requirements. Your continued use of the RCLP sites after we have posted changes to this policy will indicate to us that you have accepted those changes.

   E-Registry.ca cannot update or change your personal information included in your vehicle registration renewal. If you wish to update or change this information, please visit your local Registry Agent.
